4 signs to spot if your core is weak

#CORESTRENGTH- What is it? Here are my 4 signs to spot if your core strength is weak!! AND what you can do about it to GET STRONGER. Core Strength gets talked about a lot. When it is working well YOUR core strength stabilises your torso & prevents any side to side hip movements, which keeps you strong & steady when doing everyday things & makes movements more efficient. It keeps your posture & spine upright, & by training all your core muscles you reinforce the way your pelvis, abs, hips & lower back work together effectively. When it is weak you get back ache, neck tension, struggle sitting for long periods & driving, gardening.. the list goes on!!

HERE ARE MY 4 SIGNS TO SUGGEST YOUR CORE NEEDS SOME ATTENTION & INVESTMENT!! & what you can do to help yourself…

  1. LOWER BACK PAIN & NECK TENSION-

You suffer with lower back ache & neck tension but you do stretches?

Core strength is key to supporting your spine holding you in a good upright position. If your core strength or posture is lacking one of the most commons symptoms is lower back & neck pain that gets worse as the day goes on, after a drive, sitting for more than half an hour or standing for periods of time.

  1. TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY-

You can feel yourself flagging…

This is an indication that your general strength & core are weak & you are unable to do some things you want to do because you do not have the strength, stamina & have little problems that prevent you from walking loads, sleeping well, sitting for long periods.

  1. LITTLE ACHES, NIGGLES & INJURIES-

You feel like you always have a little niggle or ache going on somewhere in the background!!..

When your biomechanics are not correct or your body is out of alignment it can cause you a lot of little injuries just doing normal everyday things e. g unloading the dishwasher, gardening, putting the bin out, hoovering, picking up your children AND it can be FRUSTRATING. Strength, conditioning & core work, can SOLVE THE ROOT CAUSE & prevent reoccurring injuries.

  1. BAD POSTURE-

You slump when you are sitting & when you see a picture of yourself or catch a glimpse of yourself walking past a shop window you realise your posture is NOT great.

Simple core exercises are perfect for strengthening & correcting every day posture. The better your day to day posture is the more energy you will have & the more efficient your movements will be.

WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR CORE STRENGTH:

  1. Do Strength Resistance Exercises using natural body weight &/or weights

  2. Introduce Pilates into your week

  3. Do specific Core Training work
